Exercise is one of the best ways to prevent falls (and fear of falling)

The Wall Street Journal has posted an article which gives some helpful perspective and advice on how to decrease the chances of falling.

In the article, the writer makes a great point that having a fear of falling is a great indicator of whether or not a personal will actually fall, and highlights how incorporating exercises like Tai Chi into a persona’s lifestyle decreases both the fear and chances of falling.

Yet seniors who fear falling are at higher risk of falling, research shows, even if they have never taken a spill before. Those most fearful of falling may decide to avoid risk by avoiding activity—and then grow weaker and more likely to fall as a result.
